I would have to say most moms want to be home with their kids. They want to be there to raise them and take care of them and teach them. But in today's world, a family needs two incomes to get by. No longer can the man go off to work and leave the wife at home to do just that. Raise the kids.

Men and women both are looking for an alternative. A way to work from their home and help contribute financially. It's very tough and does not seem financially sound for a parent to work full time out of the house and then come home, find a sitter for their kids to go and work 4-5 hours a night. Half of what you make will go to the sitter and of course there is gas to get there.

Now more than ever, people want to find a legit way to work from their home. When considering a company, remember to check the Better Business Bureau for the history of that company. Making sure that it has a good rating and is legit. With so many scams out there, the BBB is there to protect the people with knowledge and facts.

Procrastination

Procrastination is probably the key factor when it comes to getting things done. Or should I say, not getting things done.

I think the main reason a person procrastinates is because the task at hand is something that they really don't want to do. It may even be something that is trivial, not high on the priority list of things to be done.

I found a book very helpful for me in my own procrastination. Maybe it can help you.

Life Is Good

As you have noticed, I have not been updating my blog like I used to. With two kids in school, working from home, sports, activities and just "Life"... It does become difficult. But I am not ready to give up on blogging. I actually enjoy it. I like sharing with readers and other bloggers.

Life is good right now...And has been. It's nice to be able to take my kids to school and pick them up. To be the one they call when the school needs someone to volunteer or when the kids forget something, I can take it right to them.

I have been able to create a schedule and stick with it. (most of the time)...

I say this... If you have at least 10 hours a week to spare... High Speed Internet...And you are willing to learn something new, then maybe working from home with us is what you are looking for. Working From Home

Why would someone want to work from home? I do often think about the simplicity of it.

All you have to do is wake up early, get everyone fed and dressed. Drop them off at a sitters or daycare. Drive to your employer. Drive a mad dash to get to work on time. Punch the time clock. Take your break and your lunch when you are told to. And if it's mandatory to stay after, good luck trying to get the sitter or daycare to watch your kids longer, and of course you will pay more. A well as spending less time with your kids.

Working from home appeals to me. It works for me. I no longer have to pay for daycare. And spend the $75.00 a week in gas like I used to. Saving me so much money! No! I am not making four grand a month. But the savings I now have is easier to work with now. My commute is all of a few easy steps right to my computer.

Getting used to a routine was not a problem for me. After all, I have been working for someone else since I was like 16-17. Waking up a certain time. Going to bed a certain time. Punching the time clock by a certain time. Taking orders, not a problem! I've been doing that for years as well. And let me say, I like the fact that I no longer take orders from someone else. I know what needs to be done and by when. I create my schedule.

Working from home is not for everyone. You do have to be a disciplined person. Learn to create a schedule. And try to be organized. But as long as your desire to be at home and earn what you are really worth is stronger than punching that time clock for someone else, then maybe I will see you at home as well.

Social Networking

Social networking is huge right now. And I think it's just going to keep getting bigger. Unless you fear people and live under a rock, you can't avoid it.

Everyone is using networking to "get out there". Whether it's for business or pleasure. If you are new to networking, I suggest starting out with facebook. Just avoid the games! But it's very easy to use. And a great way to find old friends. Then maybe you want to move up to twitter. If you are going to use twitter, I suggest using tweetdeck to manage your twitter. I love tweetdeck.

Blogging is a little more time consuming but as you build relationships and attract readers, it's probably my most favorite of all.

There are so many other ways to network. I have not even touched on all the different ways. But start with one tool and slowly add in another tool ad before you know it, you will be a social networking butterfly.

Faith vs Discouragement

Faith is the most powerful attribute anyone can possess. If we have faith in God and faith in ourselves, nothing can defeat us.

Discouragement is the opposite of faith. Nothing good comes from discouragement. It is an evil force that causes despair. Discouragement causes us to lie to ourselves and tell ourselves that we can't do it and that we should give up. Discouragement causes us to give up our goals and cheats us out of having a great life.

Both faith and discouragement are choices. We can choose to have faith or we can choose to be discouraged. In other words, we can choose whether to embrace the most powerful or the most destructive forces in the universe. It's that simple! Attitude, really is everything!

A Taoist master once asked this rhetorical question: "What can you not accomplish, if you do it in deadly earnest?"

Deadly earnest is the "tipping point" between success and failure. Lots of people try to change their lives every year and especially in January and September, only to fall back into their old habits.

Why? Because they've never reached the tipping point. This tipping point is an emotional state within. It starts with anger at an intolerable situation in your life.

Then comes the feeling of being "fed up". And finally, the prize - DETERMINATION and BURNING RESOLVE.

Until you reach that tipping point, things won't likely change very much.

Plant Your Garden

George Bernard Shaw said, "People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, they make them."

Well, it's pretty apparent, isn't it? And every person who discovered this believed (for a while) that he was the first one to work it out. We become what we think about.

Conversely, the person who has no goal, who doesn't know where he's going, and whose thoughts must therefore be thoughts of confusion, anxiety and worry - his life becomes one of frustration, fear, anxiety and worry. And if he thinks about nothing... he becomes nothing.

How does it work? Why do we become what we think about? Well, I'll tell you how it works, as far as we know. To do this, I want to tell you about a situation that parallels the human mind.

Suppose a farmer has some land, and it's good, fertile land. The land gives the farmer a choice; he may plant in that land whatever he chooses. The land doesn't care. It's up to the farmer to make the decision.

We're comparing the human mind with the land because the mind, like the land, doesn't care what you plant in it. It will return what you plant, but it doesn't care what you plant.

Now, let's say that the farmer has two seeds in his hand- one is a seed of corn, the other is nightshade, a deadly poison. He digs two little holes in the earth and he plants both seeds-one corn, the other nightshade. He covers up the holes, waters and takes care of the land...and what will happen? Invariably, the land will return what was planted.

As it's written in the Bible, "As ye sow, so shall ye reap."

Remember the land doesn't care. It will return poison in just as wonderful abundance as it will corn. So up come the two plants - one corn, one poison.

The human mind is far more fertile, far more incredible and mysterious than the land, but it works the same way. It doesn't care what we plant...success...or failure. A concrete, worthwhile goal...or confusion, misunderstanding, fear, anxiety and so on. But what we plant must return to us.

You see, the human mind is the last great unexplored continent on earth. It contains riches beyond our wildest dreams. It will return anything we want to plant.

Six steps to accomplish your goals and resolutions

Achieve your dreams: Six steps to accomplish your goals and resolutions. Don't let your goals and resolutions fall by the wayside. Chances are that to achieve your dreams and live a life you love, those goals and resolutions are crucial. Goal setting and goal achievement are easier if you follow these six steps for effective and successful goal setting and resolution accomplishment . They must be in writing.

1) You need to deeply desire the goal or resolution. The starting point of all achievement is desire. Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire makes a small amount of heat.

So, your first step in goal setting and achieving your dreams is that you've got to really, really want to achieve the goal!

2) Visualize yourself achieving the goal. Human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind. What will your achievement feel like? How will your life unfold differently as a result? Keep a picture of the item where you see and are reminded of it everyday. If you can't picture yourself achieving the goal, chances are...You won't!

3) Make a plan for the path you need to follow to accomplish the goal. Create action steps to follow. Identify the key accomplishments along the way, the most important steps that must happen for the goal to become a reality. You have to make sure that the blueprint is really what you want and that you've thought everything through. Begin every day with the end results in mind.

4) Commit to achieving the goal by writing down the goal. Lee Iacocca said "The discipline of writing something down is the first step toward making it happen". Write down the plan, the action steps and the critical path.

Writing down the goal, the plan and the time-line, sets events in motion.

5) Establish times for checking your progress in your calendar system. Day planner, hand written list, Outlook...If you're not making progress, don't let your optimism keep you from accomplishing your goals. No matter how positively you are thinking, you need to assess your lack of progress. Just know that something is and probably will go wrong. Take a look at all the factors that are keeping you from accomplishing your goal and develop a plan to overcome them. Add these plan steps to your calendar system as part of your goal achievement plan.

6) Review your overall progress regularly. Make sure you are making progress. Analyze where the goal is not being met.. Don't allow the goal to just fade away. Figure out what you need to do to accomplish it. Check the prior 5 steps starting with an assessment of how deeply you want to achieve the goal!

Multiple Income Streams

Today, it seems most people have their feet dipped in several income streams rather than focusing on just one business. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I mean, if you are running two or more business's, then how can you put your all into a business and expect it to flourish?

I am not talking about adding streams of income like adwords, affiliate marketing and things of that nature. I'm talking about really running two or more business's.

I suggest finding one business that you really believe in and focus on that. Put your heart into it. It's ok to do little things on the side to generate extra income. Just don't spread yourself so thin that you are only giving 10% of yourself into ten different streams. I would rather see you put 90% in one business and and leave the other 10% for miscellaneous.

I have found a few things that can help alleviate these problems and would like to share them with you.

1. Get up and get away from the computer for awhile. Even if it is only for 10 - 15 minutes. Walk around the house, stretch your muscles, do some neck and back stretches. These can do wonders!

2. Take a walk. Get dressed, go outside, breathe in the fresh air and take a 20 - 30 minute walk. This is one of the most invigorating things you can do to clear your head and get the cobwebs out. Walking is the one activity I would recommend the most.

3. Call a friend or family member and just chat for awhile. This can also be a great way to lift your spirits and confirm your suspicions that there are other people on this planet! ;-) Chat for awhile and laugh a little. Laughter is a great medicine!

4. Have a little fun! Put on some of your favorite music and dance around the house. Let loose and have some fun. Act goofy, crazy or waltz yourself to China. This helps get out some of the frustrations and pent up emotions that can cause the blues.

5. Just relax! Turn everything off, (including your computer), make yourself a cup of coffee, cocoa or just plain water. Just sit in complete silence and watch the birds outside or put a cool cloth over your eyes. Let your mind just go blank for awhile. Forget everything and just relax!

6. Exercise your mind! Show your mind that there is more than just the computer. Do a crossword puzzle, play a few games of solitaire, or read a book. These are all great ways of getting your mind off business and clearing out all the old to make way for the new.

7. Do some housework! This might not be the most fun thing to do, but it helps take your mind off business for awhile and believe me, after about an hour of housework, you will be more than ready to get back to business!

8. Take a TV break! Watch a program that allows you to escape to another world. After you are finished you just might be glad to be back in your world.

9. One thing I do when business gets the better of me is to shut the computer down for the day and turn my attention to other things that need to be done. Just taking a small break from business can help, but when things are really stressful we may need a longer break.

10. Get some sun! After being indoors so much, we need to get out and get some sun. The sun is very good for your mind and body. Sunshine is a very good anti-depressant! But do remember to wear protection so you don't get too much exposure.

11. Enjoy time with your family! Play a game, take a walk, watch a heartwarming family adventure movie, or just sit and talk. No matter how hard we work, we need to make time for family.

12. Eat healthy foods! This we all know, of course, but it is much easier said than done. Start by changing one meal at a time or adding one healthy food a day. The better we feel, the better we can handle everyday stress!

I hope some of these pointers will help you relax and get back to business. I know they have been a great help to me more than once. Sometimes when you are feeling unproductive, stressed our or just plain tired, the idea is not to work harder but to stop working and give your mind and body a well-deserved break!

Don't Lose Sight

Working online can be a challenge for some individuals. After all, you are exposed to everything on the internet. That can be a distraction in itself.

I suggest not turning on the tv or the radio. Not only is it unprofessional to someone that you may be on the phone with if all they hear is Jerry Springer or Howard Stern in the back ground, but you also lose focus of the work that you need to be doing.

Stay focused on the tasks you need to take in order to get your work done. If you are are checking your email. watching youtube videos, engaging in any tele -seminars and playing games than you are not doing what you need to do and your work will suffer.

Stay focused and don't lose sight. Be professional and treat your work with nothing but respect.

The ______ of the Leader

According to John Maxwell, "The speed of the leader is the speed of the team." While that's true, it is important to remember that the leader sets many agendas in addition to speed. Consider this phrase: The ______ of the leader is the ______ of the team. Now pick almost any word to fill in the blanks...

Attitude.

Enthusiasm.

Focus.

Service.

Rarely will team members rise higher than the standard set by the team leader. As I often share with my audiences, team members pay more attention to what the leader does than what the leader says. Ideally, there is congruence between the words and the action of the leaders. Wherever there is discongruence, followers choose to believe actions.

Are you giving team members something to live up to? Or are you a limiting factor in the team's success?

Teamwork: Where?

While working with a telecom company recently, I was reminded of a couple of points about teamwork that are seldom addressed but critically important. The first is this:

Teamwork isn't always the best means to an end.

There is much organizational work that is better done by an individual. Trying to bring teamwork to bear on every process and activity is likely to create something that has a scary resemblance to the dreaded "management by committee."

To make teamwork work, it is necessary to answer the question "Where?" Where should we team and/or partner? What areas will be improved by applying a teamwork approach?

Secondly, it isn't enough to sell the benefits of teamwork if you can't identify the opportunities. This is related to my previous point. Start by asking where in your organization teamwork is most needed. Rather than apply a general and vague team approach, target specific areas. Once momentum is gained in those important areas, you can increase the scope of teamwork.

I wonder how many team efforts crashed and burned because nobody ever asked if teamwork was desirable for the type of work being done, or identified where the opportunities for teamwork were greatest.

Middle-Down Teamwork

One of the most common mistakes I observe is what I call "middle-down teamwork." That occurs when upper management thinks that teamwork is a great concept for every in the organization except them.

Here's what happens: someone in leadership gets turned-on by an article in Fortune or Business Week about the organizational benefits of teamwork. That usually results in a mandate to create teamwork that is directed to middle management. Middle management is expected to put their people through prerequisite training and take the steps necessary to ""make it happen." Often during the initial training, it becomes painfully obvious to those involved that upper management neither practices nor supports the concept of teamwork, and that if teamwork is to happen, it will happen from the middle down. Evaluations of the training include comments like, "Why wasn't upper management involved in the training?" and "I hope our leadership takes these lessons to heart."

For teamwork to work, it must be embraced--in principle and in practice--by everyone in the organization. But, in my opinion, the best place for a teamwork initiative to start is at the top. Once employees see leadership practicing what they preach, it becomes significantly easier to get acceptance throughout the organization.

1. In successful teams, team members are interdependent. They are willing to ask for help when they need it and offer help when they can provide it.
2. Work groups compete inward. Teams compete outward. There are three things you can use to create healthy competition: a competitor in the marketplace, a team goal to be achieved or a common problem to be solved.
3. Team members are self-starters. Since they understand the big picture, they don't need to be told what to do.
4. Successful team members share both rewards and sacrifices. Don't expect people to make sacrifices if they won't get to share in the rewards later.
5. The best thing you can strive for is not a team with a great leader. The highest goal is a team of leaders.

Plugging

Plugging... What an effective way to get your business or service out there.. And guess what? It's FREE.

So many websites and blogs have plug boards on them that will allow you to place your plug and url on their board in exchange for allowing them to plug on yours...And you can still find websites and blogs that will let you plug without even having a plug board of your own.

Of course you can google "plug boards" but you won't get as many listings as you would by actually visiting one. Because once you visit one, you will have access to many more.

You will need a plug image that represents you. For this blog, I am using the "Asinglewahm" and I can go to other blogs or websites and plug it...Meaning, when someone clicks on the image, it will take them to my business or service.

Example: at the bottom of this blog is a section called "Plug It" When plugging you will need an image url and a website url.... In the first box is where you will input the image url.... That link is what allows your image to show.... The second box is your website url..... once you enter both, you click on "plug" and that will display your image and link so someone can click on it and see what you are all about.

So go ahead and plug everywhere you can... It's a great way to get your business/service out there and the best part is, it's FREE!

Writing Articles

Writing articles is a great way to get yourself noticed. As long as there is a topic that you know pretty well, you should be able to write about it. You can even take the same article and rewrite it in another way and create a new article that way.

At the end of each article you write and submit, you will be asked for a bio that leads to you.
This is where you will input your expertise and a link that will allow that reader to find you.

Now when submitting an article, you are giving your rights away for redistribution of that article... However, your bio needs to stay intact. Allowing your article to pop up anywhere and everywhere with your contact info available.

What a great way to get noticed...There are so many article directories that I just suggest you google (article directories or article submissions) for your results.

Effectively Growing Your Business

What is the most effective way for a business, any business to grow? If you said "word of mouth", you are correct.

You and your family go and see a movie... You like it....You tell your girlfriend about it...And now she goes to see it because of what you said about it.

Your boyfriend takes you out to eat at a new restaurant that just opened up....You both had great service...The waiters were coming by constantly topping off your beverage...Asking if there was something else you needed... The food was amazing... The lighting was perfect....There was romance and still room to converse in getting to know each other a little more......The ambiance was perfect and the bill for your romance and connection was even better.... Of course you go ahead and tell everyone you know about the great dining experience you had....

Referrals.....All business's are built on referrals. And it is your recommendation that drives more traffic to that certain business. We do it every day, maybe not even knowing that we are doing it. We recommend the shoes we bought....The place we ate at...The movie we saw....Everything is all about referring.

So what if you came across a business that you totally believed in.... 100%... No if's, ands or buts....Would you refer? Of course you would! It's just natural to us... We do it every day and we are not even paid on it.

There is a home-based business that is built just on that... There Still Is Hope!

It is so hard for people to try and stay positive with the economy in such a bad state. So many people are losing their jobs... Getting their hours cut back...Every day there is another story of a "Mom and Pop' business closing down...And then there are so many "Big" business's closing down as well.

NOW is actually the time to start looking into running your own home-based business. More and more people are jumping on board and looking to work at home because of their own financial situation.

I hear every day how people think it takes hundreds, even thousands of dollars to start their own business. That just baffles me...And yet, it angers me as well. So many people are in "Desperate Mode" when looking for a home-based business and it's because of that, we have scams out there.

Understand this: There is a difference between working at home and owning your own home-business. One will most likely require a nominal fee and the other won't. I should also point out that when working from home for someone else, you again are placed in a position where you really don't have job security. You can't even imagine all the people that are looking right now for the same thing you are.... Positions are going fast, everywhere.

There is, however, hope for the individual that is looking to own their own home-based business. Your business! With all the incentives included...Imagine everything you can write off. Not just paper and ink, I'm talking about part of your electric, possibly mortgage, gas and even your household necessities. Yes, your laundry soap, shampoo, floor cleaner...Shoot! Your vitamins as well, if you take vitamins.

Introducing Your Business

When introducing your business to a potential partner, there are a few things you NEED to do in order to succeed.

First: Be honest with yourself. Is your business something you really believe in? Or are you just crossing your fingers hoping that people will just jump on board with you? If you don't honestly believe in what you are doing, people will see through it.

*** Does your business impact people positively?
*** Will individuals benefit from the business? Not just financially.
*** Will your business become saturated? Will it still be something that the public needs and wants over a period of time?

Second: If your business involves teaming up and working together, make sure that you are there for your new partner.

*** Don't display your opportunity to potential partners by placing a pretty bow on a shiny package when inviting new partners to join you and then find yourself not there for your new partners.
*** This takes commitment on your part. You need to make sure you are there and available to your new partners. They are depending on you.

You are dealing with Real people, with Real dreams and Real Hopes. Make sure you believe in what you are doing. It also helps when your opportunity is something that is not just a fad... Something that will last forever....Something that is honest and ethical and helps everyone and everyone can benefit not just financially, but in more ways you can imagine.

When Working From Home Isn't Working Out

More and more moms are choosing to either work from home or start home based businesses, and while they each have their own reasons for doing so, most have one thing in common: they want to be with their children and spend more time with their families.

A Christian mom may feel an even larger responsibility to be with her children on a daily basis. It’s easier to teach our children about God’s love for them when we are with them all day, every day.

But what can a work-at-home-mom do when working from home isn’t working out?
Perhaps a home business idea didn’t take off and a business mom thinks about returning to her old job to pay off some bills. Maybe a telecommuting job is ending and another one isn’t on the horizon. Sometimes the desire for a larger home, a family vacation, or the loss of the husband’s income can lead a work-at-home mom to wonder if it’s time for her to work outside the home again.

It’s a difficult decision to make, frequently fraught with feelings of failure, sadness, and wondering where you went wrong. A Christian WAHM who prays regularly for her business’s success may even question why God didn’t just make things easier for her.

At least, that was how I felt when faced with this decision two years ago. My husband had been hospitalized for several months, his paycheck had been cut back and our expenses had increased. My revenue from my new home business simply wasn’t enough to make up the shortfall.

At first, returning to work seemed my only option, but after spending many hours in prayer and discussing options with my husband and others whom I trusted, I believed God wanted me to stay home with our children and trust Him to meet our material needs.

Rebekkah Kogelschatz of Smart Moms-Smart Business, LLC, http://www.smartmoms-smartbusiness.com, recently faced this same decision when her husband’s health problems increased his time away from work. For Kogelschatz, though, returning to work was the right answer. It has been a difficult decision, but she says, "You truly have to look at your overall picture, pray, and have faith that God will lead you to the right answer."

For anyone who feels pressured to return to an outside job, it’s important to remember that God hasn’t forgotten about you, your family, or your business. Here are some steps you can take to find God’s purpose for this time.

Pray. Are you thinking of returning to work because of social pressures, or is it truly God’s idea?
Kogelschatz and her husband both "prayed for discernment, trying not to see only the financial aspects of returning to work, which would definitely improve, but also looking at how it would affect our children and our household."

During my own husband’s illness, the growing pile of bills seemed to scream that it was time for me to go back to work. But when I asked God what He thought, I strongly felt that He wanted me to stay home and trust Him, despite how things appeared.

Whatever you decide to do, be sure it’s God’s plan and not your own.
Trust. If you have sincerely sought God’s plan for your business, you can trust that God will protect and provide for you and your family. Though not always pleasant, and not always in the way I wished He would have helped us, God did provide for my family during my husband’s illness.

As a teacher looking for a job in late summer, Kogelschatz expected to find the bottom of the barrel in teaching positions, but she believes God prepared the way for her return. "There was a great resource position available that I applied for and I got it," Kogelschatz says. "It was the perfect position for the other events that are happening in my life… God provided the right position at the right time."

Work. A return to the outside workforce does not necessarily mean the end of your home business. Continue to work on building your business when you can. Kogelschatz works many evenings on developing her websites, posting on her blogs, and chatting on forums. "When I used to work 20-30 hours a week on building the websites, I know have to balance my time with my family time and do as much as I can when I get the opportunity." She plans to return to her home based internet business full time and is using this year to build foundations that will help her earn an at-home income equivalent to her teaching salary. Kogelschatz has some encouraging words for moms who, like her, return to working outside the home for a time:

"If you have to go back to work, plan your time so your family and your home based business do not suffer, but don’t feel like you have to spend all night and the weekends working on your home based business. It may not move at the speed it would if you were home, but it will move ahead." She adds, "I am truly at peace with our decision, even though I still miss being the one with my children each day."

One of my five year old's favorite chores around the house is cleaning scuff marks off the walls, doors, and baseboards with either an Easy Eraser pad, or the real deal, a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I remember reading the box, wondering what the "Magic" component was that cleaned crayon off my walls with ease. No ingredients were listed and absolutely no warnings were on the box, other than "Do not ingest."

My package of the Scotchbrite Easy Erasers didn't have a warning either; and since my child knew not to eat the sponges and keep them out of reach of his little brother and sister, it was a chore I happily let him do.

If I had known that both brands (and others like them) contain a harmful alkaline or "base" chemical (opposite of acid on the pH scale) that can burn your skin, I never would have let my little boy handle them. As you can see from the picture, when the Scotchbrite Easy Eraser was rubbed against his face and chin, he received severe chemical burns.

At first, I thought he was being dramatic. I picked him up, put him on the counter top and washed his face with soap and water. He was screaming in pain. I put some lotion on his face - more agony. I had used a Magic Eraser to remove magic marker from my own knuckles a while back and I couldn't understand why he was suddenly in pain. Then, almost immediately, the large, shiny, blistering red marks started to spread across his cheeks and chin.

I quickly searched Google.com for "Magic Eraser Burn" and turned up several results. I was shocked. These completely innocent looking white foam sponges can burn you?

I called our pediatrician, and of course got sent to voice mail. I hung up and called the hospital and spoke to an emergency room nurse. She told me to call Poison Control. The woman at Poison Control said she was surprised nobody had sued these companies yet and walked me through the process of neutralizing the alkaline to stop my son's face from continually burning more every second.

I had already, during my frantic phone calling, tried patting some numbing antibiotic cream on his cheeks, and later some Aloe Vera gel - both resulted in screams of pain. The Poison Control tech had me fill a bathtub with warm water, lay my son into it, cover him with a towel to keep him warm and then use a soft washcloth to rinse his face and chin with cool water for a continuous 20 minutes. My son calmed down immediately. He told me how good it felt. I gave him a dose of Tylenol and after the twenty minutes was up, he got dressed in his Emergency Room doctor Halloween costume and off we went to the hospital. They needed to make sure the chemical burn had stopped burning, and examine his face to determine if the burn would need to be debrided (from my fuzzy recollection of hospital work, this means removing loose tissue from a burn location). My son was pretty happy at the hospital, they were very nice and called him "Doctor" and let him examine some of their equipment. The water had successfully stopped the burning and helped soothe a lot of the pain. I'm sure Tylenol was helping too.

They sent us home with more Aloe Vera gel, Polysporin antibiotic cream, and some other numbing creams. By the time we got home, my son was crying again. I tried applying some of the creams but he cried out in pain. Water seemed to be what worked the best.

After a rough night, I took the above photo in the morning. He was swollen and wouldn't move his lips very much. The skin on his cheeks was taut.

Today he is doing much better. The burns have started to scab over, and in place of red, raw, angry, skin we have a deeper red, rough healing layer. I can touch his skin now, without it stinging.

If you are a parent or grandparent, this post is meant to save your loved ones from the horror these parents went through. Please share it with other parents, grandparents, babysitters, aunts and uncles ~ anyone you know who spends time with kids.

And no, this was not my child.

Owning Your Own Business

Owning your own business has so many advantages. You can work the hours that you want. You can write your own paycheck instead of having someone else pay you what they think you are worth. You can take your break and lunch when you want.

Of course there are a lot of difficulties as well. You may have to consider hiring staff, paying the rent or lease on the building that your business is in. Then there is the electric and water, payroll and accountant.. Ohh, let's not forget about office supplies and of course inventory. If you are online, chances are you will be shipping as well.

Working hard and being consistent is of course the key factor. There may be times when you go without because of all of the other expenses. It may even get to a point where you have a hard time paying your employees, keeping the electric on, or scraping change up to ship an order to someone.

You can own your own business that is LEGIT and YOURS. You write your own paycheck. Guess what? My home business is transferable...Meaning, I will pass my business down to my children. And I will actually be able to retire and walk away knowing my kids are secure.

I don't Sell, Carry Inventory or Take Orders. This is not an MLM, where the first person in, wins. This is not Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, Avon, Watkins or Amway...

I open up Wholesale Membership Accounts. This is Direct Consumer Shopping at it's best. Very similar to BJ'S, Costcos and Sams Club....Except better. Deeper Discounts, No Bulk Shopping, Access to over 70 other Retail Stores ( Sears, Kohl's, Target, Dell, Overstock ) to name a few, which provide discounts as well.

Want help in finding a lower mortgage rate? We have that. Need Auto Insurance/House Insurance? We have that. How about a little help with Lowering your cost for prescriptions? We have that. As well as Internet, Long Distance, Cell Phone plans and so much more. Our members actually get "Thank You" checks in the mail from the company just for shopping.

Can you see why I love my business? I am helping people all over save money. And with this economy the way it is, who doesn't want to save even more? Again, it's not just the savings that you get...It's all the other little perks that are included, the little thank you checks that the customers receive and all the other services that are available to them.

What Do I Need Goals For?

You hear a lot about setting goals, writing down your goals and keeping track of your goals. But what is the sense in it, you may ask?

Goals keep you focused on whatever it is that you desire to achieve. It's good to start out with a few little baby goals....Like planning a to pay off a credit card by a certain time. Or taking a vacation by a certain time. By doing this, setting a deadline, give you the time-line to achieve a certain task by a certain time....

It's ok if you don't meet your deadline.... If you fall short. If that happens, you reset your goals and start over. But I am a firm believer that without setting goals to begin with, you would have fallen much shorter than you would have if you had set goals. Setting goals keep you on pace in achieving what it is you desire.

Whatever it is that you want to achieve, write it down on paper and know the steps that you need to take in order to reach your deadline. Look at your goal list everyday... Compare it to how close you are to it in reality. You can them determine if you are right on track or if you need to work a little harder....

Remember, write it down... It's NOT enough to know in your mind.

Compartmentalize - A Prerequisite For Success

Compartmentalization is a critical step to achieving goals and getting the results you want in life.

After you establish your goals and priorities for a day, hour, or a particular meeting or project you must compartmentalize.

Compartmentalization means focusing on each individual item without letting any one activity encroach upon the timing and effectiveness of any other.

It's easier said than done, however if you want to achieve your goals in the fastest manner possible you must take the following steps to maximize your ability to compartmentalize:

* WRITE down every action you plan to take.

Underperformers keep their goals in their head while high achievers put their plans to paper in an organized manner. After you've committed your priorities to paper, you gain clarity and control which allows you to free your mind of worry and anticipation.

* CROSS items off your list.

A feeling of accomplishment precedes a completed item. Every action moves you one step closer to your desired goal and ideal outcome.

* CONCENTRATE on the present.

Focus on the here and now, you cannot change the past nor can you control the future.

If you find that you are having trouble compartmentalizing your time and activities, look at your list and remind yourself of what's most important - your current focus. Like a rubber band, this will snap you back to the matter at hand.

We don't work or live in flocks, but much of life is spent in teams. As long as someone else is there with us--at work, at home or on the playing field--we are part of a team. And we know the difference between teams that work and the ones that don't. We want our teams to be efficient, in sync and effective. Like birds and fish, we strive to entrain.

An entrained team builds on individual strengths. Everyone is aligned toward a common goal. There's cooperation and harmony. Projects are done enthusiastically and well. Here are some things your team can do to increase its effectiveness.

Talk about what the team values. These 'core values' build a common foundation for the team.
Sincerely care about each person’s growth and development.

You Can Work At Home.

I am just so excited about my business that I had to post about it. With the economy the way it is and people having such a hard time with finances.....It seems as though more and more people are turning to starting their own business and working from home.

I knew there had to be something legit that I could do from home....I knew other people were working from home but they were running a business that I was not interested in.

I am the proud owner of my own business. I started very part time at first. About 10 hours a week. Now I am working about 35 hours a week. My kids are here with me, no longer needing to go to a sitter or daycare. I am not spending all that money in gas that I used to spend to get to a JOB. I create the hours I want. I can leave without punching a time clock and not worry about getting docked in pay.

Sure, I had to learn how to create a schedule and follow it. It does make things easier when I can look at my daily planner and know at what time I am supposed to be doing something. And if I choose to take the day off, I don't have to run it past someone and get it approved. I approve it!!

If you are reading this and wondering if what I am saying is true.....I promise you that it is. I can even show you what I am doing and how I am doing it.... I can cover the pay and everything else you would like to know. My home business is no big secret... I did not even know what to do when I started....Which is why the training we have is so important. Yes, we have training.

Pessimists

So what is about pessimists? Are they people that have just given up on hopes and dreams? Have they always been this way? Maybe they were burned one too many times and just decided to give in to negativity.

There is nothing worse than having a pessimist in your life. They seem to think they have the right to jump in and tell you why "this is not a good idea" or why "that just won't work". It seems as if they have thrown the towel in. They walk away from trying to do more.....To try harder.....To Want more.....To be more.....To desire more.....

A neighbor just recently exposed himself to me as a "Pessimist".

As my neighbor was holding a little puppy, I had made a comment that we can't have animals where I live. And then I made a comment of how it will be nice to move and eventually get a puppy. He then told me about these townhouses that are available by him. I told him that I wanted a house on about 2-3 acres. I could not believe what he was about to say.

He said "Cindy, I make way more than you and I can't even afford a house on 2-3 acres. You need to aim a little lower, you have your goals set too high". I replied "We'll see" and walked away.

Just then it hit me. What if I had said that same thing to my son....My son has made comments
about what he would do if he were president.....I can't even imagine looking at him and saying "Well son, I think you are aiming to high....Why don't you just settle for being a janitor" or "You'll never be the president".

Words like that can just shatter another persons belief in something. Making them question whether they are capable and worthy. Especially to a child. So I am here to say to all the pessimists...."Don't doubt me for I know where I will be". And the truth of the matter is that the pessimist is only saying what he or she feels and believes in their self.

Working At Home may be the solution you are looking for.

So many people are looking to work at home but are not sure what is legit and what is not.
I know when I started my venture in looking to work at home it seemed that everything I found online was a scam. I had filled out a ton of applications that I had seen and then was swamped with emails and phone calls from everyone. And because of that, I went into shut down mode. I stopped looking, put my dream of working at home on hold and continued my life as it was.

Circumstances led me back into looking to work at home again. I started the process over of online searching and came across a few more scams but finally found the right position for me.
And because of what I experienced, I want to emphasize to everyone how important it is to get the credentials from the company you are considering to work for. If the company you are considering is not listed with the Better Business Bureau as a good, honest company, then run the other way. If the company is not listed period, run the other way.

By taking my time, trial and error, a lot of searching and digging, I found the perfect work at home business for me. You may have to go through a lot of the crap in order to find your gem.

Tracking Your Visitors

How important is it to track your visitors? You can place a hit counter on your website or blog, but that only tells you how many visitors you have. What about tracking your visitors? What country, what state, what city, what time of day, how many times a day and so much more.

Just about every website or blog has a tracking tool on it. Of course you won't see it because it's in HTML code.

I've been using Stat Counter for as long as I have had my blogs and website.

Let's use this blog for example. Whenever I make a new post, I can use the information from my stat counter that shows me what are the popular pages that people come to look at. Of course, you would then want to add more of the same. If I had a page on gardening and it did not have one visitor, then I could take that info and I would change it or remove the gardening page.

But let's say I discussed "big money making tips", my stat counter would show me the overwhelming visits, where those visits came from, what time, how long, if they came back more than once and what other pages they looked at. This is vital information !!!

Once you learn how to use the information properly, this can help you create a better website or blog. Add more content that is popular.... Take away what is not..... And the extra perk you get with stat counter is that you are able to download and save (years worth) of all of this data, which will help your website or blog succeed.

Retaining Your Business Partners

Let's say you are in business with other business partners. How do you keep your partners in business with you?

First... Know the difference between being a leader and being a teacher. A teacher will take all the new info he or she receives and pass it along to their partners. But a leader will lead by example. Whatever successful moves they do, their partners will be eager to follow.

Become a product of your product. If you don't believe in what you do, how will anyone else? Seriously, think about that. Do you really believe in what you do? Does what you do make a difference? Can you really build an honest business and sleep good at night doing what you do?
Is your business honest? Ethical? Something that your business partners can really benefit from?

If you have business partners that are not contacting you to move in their business, just thank them and leave the ball in their hand. We can't drag people to work. Did you know that one of the simplest, most powerful strategies for enhanced leadership, sales and customer service is to thank your co-workers and customers?

It's as simple as "Thank You."

We just have to make time to say it-write it-and mean it.

Doug Conant, the CEO of Campbell's Soup for example, has written 16,000 thank you notes to employees since 2001 and re-energized the company in the process.

The key is to do it and do it often. Otherwise it won't become a habit and if it's not a habit it won't produce results.

Consider PPR, a company recently voted as one of the best places to work in the United States by SHRM. They implemented Thank You Thursdays: a process where every Thursday each employee writes at least three thank you notes to their clients. PPR recognized the importance of saying "Thank You" and they created a system to make it happen. I love this idea because they know the system drives the habit and the habit creates results.

But what if I don't work for a company that has Thank You Thursdays you might ask? Then simply create your own system or find one that works for you. Thank you Fridays perhaps. :) If you don't like writing thank you notes then make it a point to call your customers and colleagues and thank them over the phone. Or thank people when you meet them in person. Thank your teammates for striving to help the team succeed. Thank them when you see them doing something right. Thank your co-workers for helping you on a project. Thank your customers for the opportunity to serve them.

Expressing gratitude, like anything, is a skill and the more we do it the better we get.

Success is desired by so many people, yet, only a handful can make the claim that they are truly successful.

Success is viewed in so many aspects. One may want to be successful in the relationship they have with their spouse or children or even friends. But for the most of us, Success is something they link with finances. Whatever your idea of success is in your mind can be achieved through your mind.

When you focus on the negative that may be going on in your life, you are attracting more of that same negative thought to stay in your mind. Simply put: Whatever it is that you focus on, your mind will focus on it 10x more. Which explains why so many people, including myself in the past, just could not see the light at the end of the tunnel. And when you have multiple issues that are negative going on in your life, the stress is so overwhelming that all you can think about is all the negative...Which is compounded 10x.

If you are worried about how you will pay the electric bill, how you will get the gas money you need for you car, how you will buy your groceries and so on.... STOP! You have 3 issues right there that are negative and being compounded 10x for each thought..... You are filled with negative and that's all you are going to get.

I don't care what you have to do....But you need to find some positive.....Be happy with the house you have.... the car you have.....The friends you have....The family that you have.....Focus on the good that you do have and keep thinking about those things. This really is as easy as flicking a light switch.

When you focus on the good that is in your life, you create more good thoughts and desires that lead to reality. It really works, like the "Pay It Forward" or the "Ten Fold" scenario. And by concentrating on the good and more of the good that you want, you can create it.....If you think of a negative thought, you need to shift your thoughts into something positive....Immediately! You are then forcing your mind to focus on the thoughts that you want it to....And by doing so, you will create more of those same thoughts which just keep multiplying.

There is something going around called " Article Spinning". Article Spinning is when you take an article that someone wrote, change a few words and then publish it as your own. Online Plagiarism is becoming more and more of a problem. We don't always think the information we find on the "net" is protected by copyright law, but it is.

Believe me, I have several articles that I wrote myself. And if I see an article that even looks similar to an article that I wrote.....I will take the steps needed to keep my work protected. If there is an article that someone would like to use, all you have to do is copy it in the format that it is in, leaving the bio at the end as well. Don't change a thing.

Why would someone risk plagiarism? First of all, it does appear to be easier to get away with online since there are millions of articles out there. But understand this... You are taking away the credibility from someone that it takes into writing a passionate article. But maybe that's it. Much easier to steal from someone rather than take the time to do the work yourself. And if you are not a creative person, unable to write an article yourself, then hire a ghostwriter....That is what they are for.

How Determined Are You?

How Strong Is Your Faith in your home business? How deeply do you KNOW that what you are doing is working? Or do you find that you question your success in what you are doing? Stop right there if you even have a glimpse of doubt!!! You need to put yourself in a position where you sink or swim... There has to be a sense of urgency. You can't leave any room for doubt. Not one glimpse, not one second. Focus on what you want, and what the outcome will be. Leaving no room for doubt.

This is my personal experience.

I know without a doubt, where I will be. I can see my future. I can see the house that my children and I will live in. I can see how ALL my bills will be paid....How I can splurge on things that I never could have before. I can see the vacation that I will be able to take my kids on.

The thing is, it's not enough to THINK! You need to know it... Believe it......See it..... Taste it....Feel it.... Live it....Until you do get there. This is called DETERMINATION.... And guess what? Not everyone has this skill perfected.

If you have determination, then you are 90% of the way in achieving whatever it is that you want. Determination is very different than WANTING. Determination is taking your DESIRE and putting it onto action.

You first need to know what you want....For me, that's being able to provide for my children and myself a much more relaxed, financial living. To be able to help out my friends and family that are in need...And I want to be able to help support charities that are close to my heart. My children will be able to say that "Yes, mom struggled for awhile, but look at where we are now".

Ok, Now I know what I want... Now you need to come up with a plan of action. I plan on telling everyone what I do and how I can help. And make a difference one person at a time. If you are in a position where you sell, then you will do whatever it takes to sell your product...If you are in a position of recruiting, then you will get out there and explain to people why they should join you. Whatever it is that you do, do MORE of it. That's determination.

If you have ever given up on something that you wanted, look back and evaluate "why" you gave up. Chances are it was from negativity. And most negativity comes from those we care about. Friends and family. They are the most guilty of this. They think if they can't do something, that you can't either. That it won't work. Again, you need determination. Block out the negativity.

Surround yourself with people that are supportive of what you want. That do believe in you.That want what you want. You may find only one or two people that believe in you. And guess what? That's fine. You have one or two people that someone else does not have.

Please...There are so many people that want to doubt what they consider inconceivable. But it's your desire, backed with determination and a plan of action that will get you what you want. What is the difference between those that are successful and those that are not??? DETERMINATION.... That's all. They know what they want and they won't quit until they get it.

Summary:

1) Know what you want
2) Allow your desire/determination to lead you
3) Follow the actions needed to get you there
4) Block out ALL negativity
5) Surround yourself with only positive people that believe in you. We all have at least one person that believes in us...All you have to do is pray for his guidance.

That's it in a nutshell.....Don't give up on something that you want. What a terrible thing to do. I know that my children will acquire leadership, determination and, perseverance from me. And what great skills to pass down. Now they will be able to achieve whatever they want.

Your Business is a 'Magnificent Adventure'

The sad truth is, most people live like sheep, following each other around: Go to work, get home, watch the electronic income reducer … and continue the cycle day in and day out, living (as Emerson described it) “lives of quiet desperation” — and thinking this is normal simply because everyone else around them is doing the same thing!

Ben Franklin said, “Most men die at age 25, but aren’t buried until age 65!” What he was saying is that we quit dreaming. Sadly most people die “with their music still in them.” I have heard it said that “Hell starts when the person you are meets the person you could have become.” Now that is a scary thought!

Success is the process of living your life working toward worthy goals. And here is the brain tweak: once you reach your goals, you are no longer a success! You must set new goals!

“But Dale, I have been working my business for several months with nothing much to show for it … I need a new car and I’ve got to get some debt paid down. I have to budget every penny I earn. How can I be a success?”

Success is not being debt-free, having cars, going on vacations or buying expensive toys. Success is living your life working toward worthy goals. If you are sincerely and diligently working your business on a consistent weekly basis, and you have your reasons for doing the business in front of you daily, then you are a success!

You are much better off than the person who is following his friends and relatives around in the sheep pasture. (Get up, go to work, watch the electronic income reducer, go to bed, get up, go to work, watch the

Most people who are highly successful financially got there because they wanted to prove to their old high school friends that their opinion of them was wrong! Granted, that’s not true of all financially successful people — but it is of many I have met. It is sad how many of these financially successful folks wound up being so very guarded.

When all is said and done, the only person on this earth you really need to please is the one staring back at you in the mirror. That person really knows if you gave it all you had … really knows whether or not you’ve lived your life daily working toward worthy goals. Nobody elses opinion really counts! If everybody thinks you are wonderful but you don’t like you, you’re doing something wrong!

Personally, I just want to know that I have spent my life working toward worthy goals and working to make a positive difference in the lives of people that cross my path. How about you?

Stop chasing financial success! Instead, work on developing yourself and your communication and leadership skills, and the financial success will flow to you. It can’t be stopped. Develop yourself first.

Make a difference in other people’s lives and the rest will take care of itself.

Every blog needs readers to remain profitable. You need people laying eyes on your blog to make sales. But many blog readers prefer to read your blog through RSS. These readers may never see your blog, but crafty bloggers know how to make RSS subscribers come to their blog. So don't ignore RSS subscribers, they can be the difference between a profitable blog and a ho-hum blog.

Here are 7 tricks to increase your RSS subscribers:

Start a contest for RSS Subscribers only. Many bloggers have used this technique very successfully. People will want to take part in the contest and sign up so they can participate.

Publish RSS Subscriber only posts. Other bloggers have used this baiting technique to get people to sign up to their RSS feeds. Managing a home business as a work at home mom can be a challenging, yet very rewarding endeavor! Many women who have young child elect to leave the workplace in order to focus on their children, and ensuring that the operations in their home are running smoothly and effectively. In times of economic woes like the world is currently facing, it is often quite challenging to live off of just one income. This is why more and more women are starting to create and operate their own home based business. If you are working to establish a home office, and create a supplemental income for your family, there are many preparations to be made. Here, I will offer some strategies on managing a home business as a work at home mom.

Creating a Schedule

If you are starting your career as a work at home mom who manages a home business, the first thing that you will want to do is to create a schedule. The idea is to create a schedule that will work in conjunction with your parenting responsibilities to optimize your profits so that you may be successful. Now, with that being said…how do you do that? It is actually quite easy to set the schedule. The hard part is sticking to it. Consider implementing the following tips in order to create a schedule that will work for you:

1. Set a certain amount of time each day to conducting household chores. Naturally, the time that you set must be a personal choice. During this time, take care of the laundry, dishes, vacuuming, and other things that must be contended with in order to maintain the home.

2. When it comes to meals, it may be appropriate to dedicate one day a week to preparing meals for the rest of the week. Believe it or not, it is actually much easier and quicker to create five to six meals at a time than to space them out over several days.

Prepare a chicken casserole in one dish, and a meatloaf in another oven safe dish, and throw them both in the oven at the same time. While those are cooking, cook a pot of stew and maybe some chicken and dumplings on the burners. There, you have four to five meals depending on leftovers. You may also want to throw some burgers and hotdogs on the top burners. Then, simply freeze the meals and pull them out to defrost the morning that they are to be eaten. Once you defrost them, reheat, and you are all set!

3. If you have children that are at least toddler age, there are many chores that you can assign to them to help make things run more smoothly. They can pick up their own toys, learn to set out their own clothes and dress themselves, assist in dusting, and even feeding, watering, and walking pets! You should also assign certain tasks to your spouse, such as taking out the trash and lawn maintenance. Putting dishes in the dishwasher, starting the washer and/or dryer and even helping the kids get ready for bed are also great chores that can be assigned to your spouse.

4. When you work at home as a mom, it is important to understand that it is not going to be your typical eight hour work day. You will need to block certain times to dedicate to your work. I say, if you are just starting out, blocking work in two hour intervals is appropriate. As your children get older, and the family becomes more accustomed to your work, you may move that up to three or four hour blocks. However, it is important to know and understand that this may take time.

5. Designate certain activities and projects on each day of the week. For example, break up the house work into certain days. For example, Sunday can be your “cooking” day, and you may designate Monday as your “laundry day”. There is no rule that says everything has to be done, in completion, in one day.

Professional Goals

If you are a work at home mom that is in the process of managing a home based business, it is important to set professional goals. One of the best ways to achieve this is to create a sound business plan. This is a basic documentation of the way that you want your business to operate, the way that you want to handle your finances, a detailed list of your resources, and where you want to go with your home business. Businesses that do not incorporate a business plan into their endeavors typically fail due to lack of direction. It is likely that you really want and need your business to work, so do not fail to leave out this essential detail.

Quality Time

Once you begin your home based business, you will come to face the challenges that so many work at home moms face. Typically, the main challenge is separating the personal life from the professional life. It is essential that you have some quality time scheduled in among all the household chores, professional projects, and deadlines. This should be scheduled in daily. Then, there should be a day set aside, at least one, which you dedicate to your family. Let’s say Saturday your spouse is off, and the kids are home from school – make this your “family day”. Go out and visit the museum, the park, the zoo – or just sit down and play some games together!

How good is your Web site? Is your Blog up to par?

There are actually websites that will measure the ranking of your website. For those of you that don't know what page rank is, it's a tool put together by Google that determines the effectiveness or efficiency of your Web site.

The higher your page rank, the higher your Web site is listed in the various search engines, and that means more traffic to your site. This, in essence, means more people are looking at your site, your products, your services, thus putting more money in your pocket in the form of paying customers.

If more people are going to your Web site then less traffic is going to your competitors' Web site. Unfortunately most people don't even know what page rank is but those visitors that do will place your website in a higher esteem than your competitors and feel that your content is much more valuable and insightful.

Now you are probably wondering how page rank determined? And more importantly how do you increase your page rank?. Well, let's look at the first part of that question.

One way to help determine your page is when another site links to your page with a back link. The more back links you receive from other pages the higher your page rank. It's a good idea to make sure the back links are coming from sites that have content on the same theme as yours.
This process can get quite involved and a little messy because all back links don't carry the same weight or force. The higher the page rank that a link is coming from the more beneficial it is in terms of boosting your page rank. So if you get links from a lot of pages with low page ranks it will not have as strong an impact as a few pages with higher page ranks.

Now this is the complicated part: If you have a page that has a page rank of 7 and it is already linked to 10 or 15 other pages then it will not be any more beneficial to you than a page that has a page rank of maybe 3 or so. There is only so much linking that a page can do. It's almost like the law of diminishing returns, in other words after awhile it begins to have the opposite effect.

Another way to improve your page rank is through the use of web directories. Not only will this increase your page rank but it will also increase the traffic to your site. So if you submit your site to a large number of Web directories you will be able to increase your rank. There are a number of web directories you can submit your website or blog to.

There's a host of other items that will definitely help you to increase your ranking and the general traffic flow to your Web site. Also if you are curious about the page ranking of your own site you can see exactly where you stand by doing a Google search for page rank. This should help you to find some of the sites out there that measure page rank. Once you find a site all you have to do is put your own URL in the designated box and you will have your answer. A page rank of 6 or higher is very high.

Creating Your Outcome

There is something to be said in how you set the tone right away in the morning, for the rest of your day. I wrote a mini article on this in the past and thought I would touch on this a little bit more.

Imagine you wake up first thing in the morning, only to step into a little puddle on the floor. Then realizing that puddle was from your pet.

Or you are on your way to work and you are getting caught by every red light and every cross walk possible. With 7 minutes to spare, you realize that you left your proposal at home on the kitchen table. You have to go back to get it but you know you are going to be late.....Yes, these are things that are more than likely going to set you in a bad mood all day.

Aside from getting rid of your pet and keeping your proposal in your car so you don't forget. There are a few other things you can do to help create the outcome of your day.

This is a hard one for me since I am NOT a morning person... LOL... But, wake up a few minutes early. Not to go jogging for 10 miles or go work out at the gym... Unless, that's what moves you. But to give your mind the focus and positive energy that it needs to continue throughout the day.

After I get my first cup of coffee in me, I then head to my bedroom and open up the blinds...(after the sun rises) lol. And you need to do the same in your office... Open the blinds and let the light in. It just radiates warmth instead of feeling like you are just hidden behind 4 dreary walls.

Get your mind stimulated by reading positive quotes of the day or from a book. Better yet, write your goal down and the actions you plan to take on getting there. Once you do that, read that out loud every morning and every night...It can't hurt to read it several times each day. You need to embed your goals and the actions you plan to take into your mind so much that it becomes routine to you. This is setting your mind into ONLY thinking of your goal and what you need to do to get there. Keeping focused.

Playing some great motivational music is another way to wake up every fiber of your being. Come on ladies, tell me that if you heard "It's Raining Men" you would not be up, dancing around. You would at least be dancing in your seat.. LOL.

Keeping a grateful journal is probably one of the most beneficial things you can do. Each night I write down the things that I was grateful for earlier that day. And this really helps since you can look back at what you wrote and reflect on how many things there were to be grateful for. So many people don't realize the abundance of good things in their life and it's not until they look back at what they wrote that they can remember......

And keeping a grateful journal is also like a SILENT way of praising the Lord. As a Christian, we are supposed to praise the Lord out loud for all the blessings that we have. Journaling is a silent form of praising. I still do my praising out loud.

You Can Set The Pace Of Each Day

You can set the tone of each day by what you do first thing after you wake up.

If you are like me, I am a BIG coffee drinker... I depend on my coffee to get me moving in the mornings. And every once in a while, I wake up and stumble my way down the stairs and into the kitchen in a comatose state.... I reach in and get my scooper ready to dig in and scoop out my morning dose of perkiness and then.... Ohhh No!!! It's empty.... What! no Coffee? And then the rest of my day is OFF...Nothing seems to go right.

And guess what? That moment right then and there can change the pace of the rest of your day.
Come on, admit it... You know it's true.

So how about doing some things each morning that will help set the pace for the rest of your day?

For some that may be starting out with exercising each morning. That feeling of accomplishing something physical, achieving your goal and getting your adrenaline jumping first thing in the morning.

For some that may be to take a few quiet moments and read a little something motivational. Maybe something by Napolean Hill, Stephen Covey or Richard Carlson.

For some, that may be listening to your favorite songs first thing in the morning to get you moving. Everyone has a song that gets you moving, even when you may be down in the dumps.

What I am suggesting is something do-able. You really can set the mood each morning for the rest of your day just by starting out with whatever moves you... Whatever motivates you. When you start each day off by doing something positive, that you enjoy, the rest of your day will follow that same tone. And if you should hit a bump in the road or something does not go your way, you will tackle the situation with a much better attitude.

Try it, you might like it!

Don't just hope ...DECIDE!

Author Steven Covey reminds us that we are all in the habit of responding to others.

We live with constant stimulus around us every day. Intentions are always influenced by stimulus. Within each of us, between the stimulus and our response is a space.

In that space lies our choice which is influenced by other people and ourselves.

We often begin with good intentions, but self-doubt and the influence of others cause the results to be much different from the intentions.

Most people are products of their intentions rather than their decisions. In other words, there are more good intentions that never happen than there are great decisions with real results.

Do you want to make a positive change in your life and in the lives of others?

If so you must make some decisions that will take you out of your comfort zone. And you must follow through with those decisions NO MATTER WHAT.

After you begin your change, you will have to re-decide ... again and again and again.

Believe in yourself. "I can persist in spite of inevitable setbacks or negative feedback."

Don't allow others to influence your decisions. You alone must develop your vision, passion, discipline and willpower. It's your life, your goal and your decision. Don't just hope ... DECIDE.

So I have been asked why I removed a couple of the links that I had on here previously. And I chose to do so because they were not relevant to this blog.

As bloggers know, you want to keep the content relevant to what you are doing...So it was a business decision that I made. I don't think it's right to add funny cartoons if I'm discussing how a 57 year old lady just lost her job of 27 years. I'm keeping it relevant.

What Is This VALUE Thing We Are Supposed To Be Giving?

Here is a great article written by Deborah Tutnauer. This puts it into perspective:

No matter where you go today, particularly in the online marketing work..."giving value" is the buzz phrase. Those in the know talk about it..those who don't give it are reprimanded on sites like BN and Twitter. My question to you is..do you really know what "Value" is? How can you tell if you are "giving value"? Is there a particular thing that defines "giving value", or can it only be determined in the negative..Such as, "pitching your opportunity is NOT giving value"?

Having been (hopefully) "giving value" online for a few years now, I have some answers..but would love to hear yours as well. Feel free to post comments at the end of this post.

When you give value to others, you are offering services or information that addresses what THEY are needing, wanting or looking for. Your focus is on your audience, not on yourself. You may be an expert in PPC...but if you start blabbering away about PPC and CTR and conversions to someone who wants to know how to write an ezine article..then you are NOT giving value (to that person at that moment).

In conversation it is easier to figure out how to offer value than it is in writing. Why do I say this? Because when you are speaking with someone you have the opportunity to truly listen to what they are saying and to discern their needs. In fact, you may have heard that the best sales skill in the world is Listening. There is no way you can adequately relate to, nor assist someone unless you take the time to really listen to and HEAR their problems and concerns. (The art of good listening can be an entire book...so maybe I'll write it when I'm done here.)

It is harder to offer value when you are writing in forums, blogs, social media, etc...because you have to assume you are addressing topics that your audience is interested in and wants to learn about. This is where it is important to define your target audience. Before you put pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard, take the time to get a clear picture in your mind of who it is you are speaking to. Write it down. Think in terms of categories and try to separate out a number of smaller niches in your broad categories. For instance:

Women Network Marketers..
single women network marketers with kids
retired women network marketers with large social connection
women who want part time income for fun money
Women who need a substantial income in order to quit their job and be a stay at home mom.

You get the idea...Once you have these niches you can then further develop your mindset by listing the potential needs or problems that this group may have. When you write or post or create a video, keep your target niche and their possible issues in mind the entire time. By doing this you will be more likely to be offering value to them in what you create.

I'm A Twitter

It's official... I'm a twitter. I did not think it would happen to me, but it did. I started out shy, willingly taking a backseat to everyone else.... Just looking at conversations, seeing if there were any that I could identify with.

So then I would just reply to a conversation with a "LOL" if I thought something was funny. Maybe adding a couple words here and there. And before I could blink my eye, I was tweeting my own messages without even having someone ask me a question.

I now jump in conversations on my own....I create my own close network of individuals that I am interested in. Or that have similar backgrounds as myself. Or that just plain got to me... LOL.
You really do establish relationships here. There are those that can and will help you as well as being able to help someone else out that needs it. And isn't that what relationships are based on?

Sure, I believe you can sign up for twitter and start following every single person you see. And end up with 10,000 followers in a few days. But I chose not to do that. I wanted to keep those with similar interests in my circle. Plus, it's hard to manage all those followers.. No matter how good at multitasking I am... LOL.

So I am going to name a few other members of twitter that have touched me in one way or another. People I choose to follow because they made a difference with me. And when you sign up, you definitely will want to follow them as well.

@realandrews - for all the positive he gives out....I'm sure he's tired of hearing this, but he was on General Hospital. Check him out, you will know who he is. (let me clarify this) I was following him before I knew who he was.

@itsallsuccess - what a wonderful lady. It was her taking time with me that made me realize that this was someone I could become friends with.

@barefoot_exec - this lady is amazing. If I did not have my own business, I would follow her. She is what I already am and what I want to be.

@Steveweber - this is the man that took time with me as well to go over things I don't know about.. He holds a great call and really explains things.

@unmarketing - What can I say? I know all the ladies would say the same... He is the Jedi of Viral Marketing. But that's not what got me to follow him. It was his confidence, sense of humor and even when I thought he did not get what I was saying, he took time and DM'd me back.

@Mike_Wesely - this guy seems to know everything about twitter and so much more. I have been in on a couple shows he holds and walked away with alot more know-how re: twitter. He's the man to see.

@DaveMalby - my favorite online DJ..... He keeps me going through the music he plays and the sense of humor he has.

There are more to mention, however, I am making a post... Not a book... LOL....I just hope the folks on twitter do realize that they can touch a person in any way.. And I am one of them touched by your tweets.

Word to the wise: No matter how slow you enter twitterverse, no matter how long it takes you to jump into a conversation and no matter how hard you resist... You will be sucked into twitterville. Go ahead and try to fight it.
